Q & A with Coach L’Dreco Thomas:
Q: How do you keep your team focused and motivated to play their best while knowing the stats of their competition?

A: We don’t really look at records. I don’t think we’ve ever looked at records. The good thing about basketball is when you get on the floor and you play the game, whoever is going to play and execute it the best is whose going to be on top. They just know that we got a next opponent, and if we play like we practice, we’ll be fine.

Q: Your last game with Loganville was a 72-31 win. Is there anything specific you’re taking back from that game to use this Friday?

A: I don’t know if we’re really trying to take anything specifically away from the last game. I think we’re trying to look at the things we’re not doing well and get better at those things. When we get to the playoffs, it’s refereed different, it’s played different. We have to be on top of what we’re doing. They have to play at the highest ability they possibly can. We just want to improve overall.

Coach Thomas ends each practice with a quote that fits with the heartbeat of the team. He ended Wednesday’s practice with the sound words of 11 time championship winner Bill Russell.

“The most important measure of how good a game I played was how much better I’d made my teammates play” – Bill Russell

“It’s a quote about being unselfish- doing what it takes not for yourself but for the team. Doing something for your teammate to free him up. How can I make my team better using my talents and my efforts?” Coach Thomas said.

The Cedar Shoals Jaguars have two more games before facing playoffs.
