2015 Georgia Writers Hall of Fame Announces Inductees

Four new members of the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame will be inducted on Nov. 9 at the University of Georgia. Taylor Branch, Janisse Ray, Vereen Bell and Paul Hemphill will be honored in the auditorium of the Richard B. Russell Special Collections Libraries.

The ceremony will be at 10 a.m.  An author event will be held on Nov. 8 at 4 p.m.

The Georgia Writers Hall of Fame was formed in 2000 to honor writers  who are natives of Georgia or writers who wrote significant material in the state. Writers must be nominated 30 days before the annual judges’ meeting to qualify for that year’s honor.

Honorees include Flannery O’Connor, Alice Walker and Martin Luther King, Jr. along with many other writers who contributed to literature over the decades.
