Coile Middle School Receives White House Award

By: Danielle Herman

A local middle school has been recognized by the White House for Educational Excellence for Hispanics.

Coile Middle School, in Winterville, Georgia, received a Committment to Action from the White House for their project Coile Services, as well as a $2000 grant. The program connects ESOL students and their families with community partners through maintaining a pollinator habitat and conducting service projects.

This project has been around since 2007, and advisor Kelli Bivins hopes this oval office recognition helps with funding for their project.

Grady Newsource Explains what this honor means to Bivins and her students.
