The 15th anniversary of 9/11 is still four days away, but several groups on the University of Georgia campus are already paying tribute to the people that lost their lives in 2001.

Laid out on the west lawn right next to the Tate Student Center are 299 flags, representing the 2,990 people who lost their lives that day.

The University of Georgia Young Republicans, UGA Young Democrats, UGA Student Government and the UGA Student Veteran Association all participated in planting the flags this morning around 9 am. This afternoon all four groups will hold a ceremony in the Tate Grand Plaza at 1:00 to pay homage to those who lost their lives.
