Irma Evacuated Cats Need Your Help

By: Grace Holland

Athens hotels weren’t the only place filled with Hurricane Irma evacuees.

Athens Humane Society flew in 40 cats from Florida shelters just before Irma hit.

Most of the cats have found foster homes but none have been permanently adopted yet.

The shelter offered to take in dogs but they haven’t received any.

“Dogs find placement quicker and people tend to rally behind dogs a little more than they do the cats,” said shelter manager Jed Kaylor.

If you want to foster or adopt one of these cats, all you have to do is click this link and fill out the form.
