Athens-Clarke County Officials Respond to Gov. Kemp’s Shelter-in-Place Order

 Why It’s Newsworthy: Gov. Brian Kemp’s executive shelter-in-place order is for all Georgians, but Athens-Clarke County has its own set of ordinances as well. 

The Athens-Clarke County mayor and commission are assessing Gov. Kemp’s new executive state order. As of today, Athens-Clarke County’s local ordinances still stand, but the mayor and commission meeting that will be held on April 7 will decide how local ordinances could be affected by the state shelter-in-place rule.

Here’s what we know so far about Gov. Kemp’s executive order and the expectations of Athens-Clarke County officials:
