Barrow County Students Show Off Art for National Arts In Education Week

While the arts are celebrated every day at Barrow Art and Sciences Academy, this week is particularly special.

It’s National Arts in Education Week, and Mitch Freeman, a 2D art teacher at the academy, has his class creating a collage of patterns to create an optical illusion.

“We looked at the Epcot Center Sphere as an inspiration for the pattern. When this is hung up it’ll have a 3D effect depending on which colors are sitting next to each other,” Freeman said.

The Academy’s halls will be decorated with student artwork for the rest of the week. Below are completed works by students.

Mary Lou Masters is a senior majoring in Journalism at the University of Georgia.
