Afternoon Webcast 11.11.13

By Monica Kalousek and Catherine Patterson

It’s Veterans Day and UGA is celebrating the men and women who serve our country.

At Oconee Hill Cemetery  they’re holding a service to honor veterans in our community. We had the opportunity to talk to Major Jerry Cushenberry and his father Colonel Anthony Cushenberry, both part of the US Air Force. Major Cushenberry was being honored today across from Sanford Stadium. Both men were also part of the UGA football team, and they told us about how special it was to be honored for their service at their Alma Mater. We’ll have more stories about how Athens is celebrating the brave women and men from all service branches on our newscast at five.

We also have our reporter Cory James in Gainesville right now. He’s got the latest on the condition of a seven year old boy burned in a fire this past weekend, and he has spent the day going door to door with Gainesville fire fighters making sure that people have the proper fire safety installed.

Remember to check us out on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to stay up to date on the latest and greatest.
