Al Roker to Visit UGA

The Today Show’s weatherman Al Roker will be coming to Athens in February. He will be giving the annual Holmes-Hunter Lecture. The lecture honors the first African-American students to enroll at UGA: Charlayne Hunter-Gaut and the late Hamilton Holmes. The speech emphasizes on race relations, black history, and education. Roker is a 12-time Emmy winner and has had a successful 35-plues years career. His wife Deborah Roberts, an ABC News 20/20 correspondent, graduated from the UGA Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication in 1982. She gave the same lecture in 2006. The lecture will be on February 8th in the Chapel at 3 p.m
