ATHENS, Ga. —

Patrick Conley is a barista at the Jittery Joe’s on Milledge Avenue. He spends his mornings pouring coffee for customers, and today he’s pouring a discount for National Coffee Day. He says the holiday is for the customers, but he sees some of the same faces each day including today.

“A lot of college professors and grad students if you look around we are more of a glorified study hall,” Conley says.

Jittery Joe’s customer Maggie Lamb likes her coffee black. She was a barista at a local coffee shop in Jefferson when she lived at home. She told me that store did not have offers for National Coffee Day, and she enjoys being able to save a little on her every day cup of coffee. Lamb said she drinks about four cups of coffee a day.
