Athens Weather Update

Today may seem like a peaceful snow day in Athens, but there are several things that may disturb the peace.

Some of our top stories include frozen power lines and what to do and who to call if your power goes out, how to avoid a collapsing roof, and what workers are doing to make the icy roads safe for driving.

This afternoon’s current weather conditions involve more freezing rain with an ice accumulation of about half an inch. The National Weather Service expects tonight to bring in snow, freezing rain, and sleet reaching a low of 28 degrees.

For Thursday’s forecast,  there will be a chance of snow before 11am but by the afternoon, the temperature should reach 40 degrees with a 40 percent chance of rain.

The best thing to do for today is to stay inside, don’t drive, and to visit our website for constant weather updates.
