Barrow County Board of Education Discusses School Start Times

The Barrow County Board of Education is torn on the topic of school start times.  With many factors to consider, there does not seem to be a clear cut answer.  Members of the board are split on the issue for many reasons.

Some feel that it is important for the safety of the children and their academic performance to move the start times back.  But doing this may cause strain on the school system and on students themselves.  School participation in athletics could also be hurt if start times are pushed back.  In addition those who do participate might have to pulled out of class in order to go to games.

The board will continue discussions on the topic before their vote March 1, 2016.
