Barrow County is honoring the late middle school principal Robert Wimberly. Even though his middle school has been closed for years.
The projected start date for the center is March 1, with completion by August 1. The grant for the center must be closed by September 5.
This center aims to encourage and promote education and upward mobility, through collaboration.
The organizations that will be in the community center are:

- Boys & Girls Club
- ACTION Inc.

The Barrow County Housing Committee announced the community center Feb. 10. The committee plans to name the future community center after Principal Wimberly.
Principal Robert Wimberly passed away last month. He was the principal of the school when it was still open and a had a major role in the community.
Community residents believe that the new community center will bring change to the area. “For the community,” resident Lee Lim says, “it’s a good thing.”
Robert leaves his wife Rachel, and his two sons, Robert Jr. and Christopher.
