Barrow County may change the times that its students begin and end their school day next year.

The Barrow County School System is seeking input on its current and proposed times for the 2016-2017 school year. A survey asks you to rank four different bell schedules, including its current start and end time. The current and proposed schedules are:

Current Bell Schedule

  • High school: Begins at 7:30 a.m., ends at 2:35 p.m.
  • Middle School: Begins at 7:30 a.m., ends at 2:15 p.m.
  • Pre-K and elementary school: Begins at 8:30 a.m., ends at 3:15 p.m.

‘Flipped Bell’ Schedule:

  • High school: Begins at 8:30 a.m., ends at 3:35 p.m.
  • Middle School: Begins at 8:30 a.m., ends at 3:15 p.m.
  • Pre-K and elementary school: Begins at 7:30 a.m. , ends at 2:15 p.m.

‘Later Flipped Bell’ Schedule:

  • High school: Begins at 9 a.m., ends at 4 p.m.
  • Middle School: Begins at 9 a.m., ends at 3:40 p.m.
  • Pre-K and elementary: Begins at 8 a.m., ends at 2:45 pm

‘Later Start Bell’ Schedule: 

  • High school: Begins at 8:15 a.m., ends at 3:20 p.m.
  • Middle School: Begins at 8:15 a.m., ends at 3 p.m.
  • Pre-K and elementary school: Begins at 9:15 a.m., ends at 4 p.m.
