Biomedical Firm Employee Leaves Job to Pursue Poetry

Buddy Wakefield, a three-time world poet champion, left his career at a biomedical firm to become a poet over ten years ago. He is now touring the world and performing poetry on channels such as ABC, BBC, and HBO. He sat down with Reporter Kevni Woodside to talk about his life so far.

Wakefield says he hurts everyday and you can hear it in his poetry. He is an openly gay man who struggled with his sexuality as a child. He admits to turning to drugs to escape the pain. Wakefield has since accepted who he is and has found international success as a poet. He says he wants to leave a lasting message in this world. And that message is…”I am enough”.
