Arrest Made in Connection to Florida Woman’s Death

UPDATE 9/5: Florida police have made an arrest in the death of a Florida woman. The sheriff’s office in Ocala, FL says Alexander Devanna was arrested at a campground and is being held in the Marion County Jail without bond. He is awaiting extradition to Georgia. A sheriff’s spokeswoman told us he cannot be granted bail in Florida because the original warrant for his arrest was issued in Georgia.

Athens-Clarke County Police said last week that Casey Devanna, 32, was shot to death. They say she was found at the Best Western Hotel on 170 North Milledge Avenue in Athens, Georgia. Police say she had been married to Alexander Devanna for a year. They issued a warrant for his arrest.

ACCPD released photographs of Devanna.
