Clarke Central Soccer Teams Make Playoff Push

ATHENS- Both the boys and girls Clarke Central Soccer teams need to win their final games this week to make the playoffs. Both teams will play Flowery Branch on Tuesday and the girls will play a make-up game against Heritage on Wednesday.

Both teams had their senior night last Thursday against Greene County. A small but dedicated group of fans came out despite the rain to support the team in their final home games. The team scored eight goals including and won the game 8-2. Senior Jerry Arteaga led the team in scoring with five goals.

The Lady Gladiators dominated Green County Thursday night. The team kept the ball on Greene County’s side of the field for nearly the entire game. The team took an early lead with this goal that went right between the legs of the goalie. They kept the pressure on Greene County throughout the night and won 9-0. Coach Hulse praised his seniors after the game.
