Clarke County Teachers Propose Changes to Discipline Policies

By Dillon Richards

ATHENS, Ga. — Nearly fifty Clarke County School District teachers signed a document recommending a slew of new policies to the Clarke County School Board.

One of those teachers, Amit Bharucha, said it’s time now, more than ever, to take another look at the rulebook.

“Obviously this particular school year has been pretty rough for the Clarke County School District — Cedar Shoals in particular,” he said.

The document includes sections on attendance, tardies, suggestions to improve detention, establishing positive incentives and ending the seven-period school day.
