ATHENS, GA – The University of Georgia is getting a jumpstart on Earth Day. The UGA Office of Sustainability is kicking off Earth Week on Monday with food trucks, music, and some furry guests.
The event is meant to educate students and others about living sustainably. Office of Sustainability Intern Meryom Pattillo says a lot of people want to be more green, but they don’t know how. She hopes events like this one can help.
One student who attended today’s event learned that she has a lot to learn.
Earth Week Kick Off featured food from local businesses, including a food truck. Pattillo cleared up the confusion over bringing a truck to a sustainability event.
This program comes two days before Earth Day 2015 on Wednesday. The Office of Sustainability will be hosting events all week to celebrate Earth Day and promote sustainability at UGA.
Reporter Cara Lynn Clarkson will be covering today’s event.
