Third Day of Trial for Former ACC police Officer Facing 3 Felony Charges

ATHENS– Christopher Lee Burton, a former Athens-Clarke County police officer is facing 3 felony charges: bribery, conspiracy to commit a felony, and violation of oath by public officer. Burton was arrested and fired in February 2012 after allegedly attempting to bribe another officer to get his friend’s DUI criminal charges dismissed for $3,500 (according to indictment). Today is the third day of his trial.
