Georgia Prepares for Saturday Showdown Against Florida

By: Damian C. Reynolds

The Georgia-Florida game on Saturday in Jacksonville repeats a highly anticipated Halloween showdown. Florida won last year’s matchup 38-20. Well, it’s a new year, and records don’t matter this weekend. Both teams are coming off a bye week, but here are a few important notes on Saturday’s matchup:

  • Georgia leads the all-time head-to-head matchup 49-41-2.
  • Florida is 19-6 against UGA since 1990.
  • Georgia is currently in second place behind Florida in the SEC East standings.
  • Florida can clinch its first Eastern Division title and SEC Championship game berth since 2009 with a win.

Georgia gave up 418 rushing yards last year, but last year is far removed from the team’s mind. The Bulldogs are looking towards Saturday’s matchup. Sterling Bailey, Georgia defensive tackle, addressed the media Tuesday afternoon and talked about preparing for this week’s game.
