Jefferson and Commerce High Schools ready for rivalry game

Athens, GA — Local rivals Jefferson and Commerce High Schools are ready for the football game on Friday. The rivalry between the two schools dates back to 1951. Both teams are undefeated and say they’re ready for the match-up. Commerce head football coach Mike Brown says even though it’s a rivalry they’re treating it like any other game.

“It’s just kind of more or less a family feud more than anything else,” says Brown. “It’s been some classic games in the series. Some last minute wins, some upsets and with each one of those it just adds to the rivalry.”

We also spoke with Jefferson’s head football coach Ben Hall, he says this is always a special time of the year for both schools.

The rivalry football game will take place tomorrow, Friday, September 12, at 7:30 p.m. at Jefferson High School.
