Light Up Sanford Tradition Begins

An already tradition-rich establishment added a new tradition last year.  The Redcoat Band prompted a movement called “Light Up Sanford” last season for fans in Sanford Stadium to turn their phone lights on when the fourth quarter began and the band played “Krypton.”  The end result?  Sanford Stadium lit up.  Now the Redcoat Band is calling fans to do it again this Saturday, against the Auburn Tigers.

“I think it was awesome,” senior linebacker Ryne Rankin said.  “It was a great experience seeing Sanford come alive like that.”

In what started as a fun, new, tradition last season, this season, it has a little more meaning than meets the eye.

“This year, we think its just as important especially with how this season’s gone,” Redcoat member Kenneth Hubbard said.  “Just to show our team that even when the season’s really dark, we want to be the light for them and that we’re behind them no matter how the season’s going.”

The game is set to kick off at 3:30.
