The Lil’ Ice Cream Dude, also known as Beau Shell, is a famous icon around Athens, Ga. Now instead of ice cream, he is serving up a fundraiser to send 100 girls in STEM to attend a special screening of “A Winkle in Time.”
The STEM program is for girls in fourth to eighth grade who are interested in science, technology, engineering and math.
“I wanted to do this to contribute to my hometown and to show girls that guys can help women…just showing them equal pay, equal treatment and stuff like that.”, Shell states.
Shell explains he got this idea from his friend, Taylor Richardson, who has been raising money for STEM on a much larger scale.
Shell utilized GoFundme.com to raise the $5,000 needed. The event would take place the evening of the 11th and would reenact a movie premier with a red carpet, popcorn, and dinner.
This fundraiser has gotten so much publicity on social media, that a avid follower, Savannah Riggs Amico, said that if he raised half of the money, she would meet him halfway.
Shell continues to raise money to meet this match, but in the meanwhile, he is practicing for Dancing with the Athens Stars event happening April 21st.
Whether he is dancing or scooping ice cream, the Lil’ Ice Cream Dude plans to take the girls of STEM to see “A Wrinkle in Time” this Sunday at Cinè.
