Local High School Basketball Teams Fight Through Bad Weather

D3 State Ring

Athens – The cold weather has caused a lot of basketball games to be cancelled lately. Despite these setbacks, there are some big games coming up.

With the quarterfinals underway, the Cedar Shoals high school basketball team is 22 and 8 and is fighting to stay in the tournament. The Jaguars of Cedar Shoals take on the Martin Luther King Lions in the elite eight matchup tonight at 7 p.m. in the Jags arena. If Cedar Shoals pulls out a win, they will play Brunswick High School on Saturday at 4:45 p.m.

That’s not the only basketball game going on this week. Coached by Ron Link whose inspiring battle with ALS has motivated his players to play the season of their lives, the undefeated Athens Christian Lions are sticking to their motto: survive and advance. The Lions will play Landmark Christian tonight at 7 p.m. with the winner advancing to play against either Greenforest or Stratford Academy. The game was originally supposed to be played last night but was rescheduled due to the icy weather.

Tune in to Grady Newsource tonight at 5 for more local sports.
