Madison House Endangered

An old house in Madison has made a state wide list of run down sites that are at threat. But officials still have hope for this piece of history. Paint stripped by the elements, windows broken by vandals, and a bad foundation. Not what you would expect from what is considered a historic landmark. The Kolb Street house recently made The Georgia Trusts list of places in peril. But some stay hopeful for its future potential.

The house, much like the city of madison, has a rich history, and dates back around 1850. It was once used as a prison camp for Union soldiers, and later as a confederate hospital.
Madison city officials say they do do not want to see it crumble, but in order to prevent this, serious work needs to be done.

Ken Kocher says it is an important part of Madisons history, and he hopes it can be resurrected. Hopefully the plans mr Kocher spoke of will come through, but for now, the house remains as is.
