Malcolm Mitchell Receives SURPRISE Good Works Team Award

Malcolm Mitchell arrived at Barrow Elementary to speak to students about the importance of reading. To his surprise, he was named to the 2015 Allstate AFCA GoodWorks Team for his dedication and commitment to serving the community. The University of Georgia Athletics and Barrow Elementary School planned this surprise for him to celebrate the honor.

This award is the most esteemed off-the-field honor in college football and Mitchell is one of 22 student-athletes selected for this honor. These athletes have made a positive impact on others and their communities.

Representatives and athletes from the University of Georgia along with students and staff from Barrow Elementary joined Allstate Agency Owner, Scott Beaver, to present Mitchell with the award. Immediately after, Mitchell attended the regularly scheduled UGA press conference where he talked to the media about preparing for Missouri.

After he finished addressing the media, he posed proudly for a picture with the trophy. Mitchell has devoted his free time to promoting the importance of reading and education.

You can vote for the Good Works Team captain through November 25th at ESPN.com/Allstate. The team captain along with the rest of the recipients will be invited to New Orleans to participate in a community project before the 2016 Allstate Sugar Bowl.

Below is the video of the surprise along with interviews from Barrow Elementary principal, Dr. Ellen Sabatini, and Malcolm Mitchell himself.
