WINDER, Ga. — A 25-year-old man is being held at the Barrow County Detention Center in connection with Monday’s shooting of a 9-year-old Barrow County girl. Tyler Lewis was at his residence with his girlfriend and her three children when his handgun went off while he was cleaning it.

If hen  is also not allowed to contact the family of the victim and he must wear a court ordered ankle bracelet.

The 9mm semi-automatic pistol fired as Taylor was having the children time him to see how fast he could dismantle and reassemble the handgun. Lewis did this several times before a bullet fired and hit the 9-year-old victim sitting next to him. She remains in critical condition at an Atlanta-area hospital after undergoing several surgeries.

Lewis is facing four counts of Reckless Conduct, three counts of 2nd degree Cruelty to Children, Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a crime, and Possession of Marijuana with intent to distribute.
