It’s an anniversary celebration, and everybody’s invited!
This parking lot’s empty now… but come Friday, it will be packed with partiers. Nuci’s Space is celebrating thirteen years of serving Athens. Youth Programs Coordinator Laura Ford said she’s looking forward to the future, “We’ve been here a while and we’re really excited about how far we’ve come over the past thirteen years and we can’t wait to start another year.”
This non-profit health and music center was built in memory of one UGA student’s suicide. His death inspired his parents to create a space with a special goal. Ford said, “Music and mental health. Those are our two main things. So musicians know us as a community center where they can come and hang out…We also provide mental health care services to musicians who don’t have insurance.”
The free event starts at 5:30 on Friday night. There will be live music and a silent auction. Nuςi’s Space is expecting up to four hundred guests to celebrate their success.
