Officers wear body cameras

unnamed-4Athens, GA— Athens Police department is implementing body cameras for their officers to wear. Athens-Clarke County Police Lieutenant Don Eckert says the Department will now be able to watch and review their officers’ actions when enforcing the law. The cameras will also help increase transparency with citizens. The cameras will cost about $600 each for the department. Lieutenant Eckert says that the cameras are a great tool for the department to evaluate what officers are doing right, what they are doing wrong, and what they can do to improve.
