Oglethorpe County Has New Sheriff-Elect

Democratic Incumbent Sheriff Mike Smith lost the election for his office in Oglethorpe County yesterday.

Republican Challenger David Gabriel, who is currently serving as a lieutenant in the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, will take over the office on Jan. 1 of next year.
