Chuck Horton, Director of ADDA, says most places charge more for street level parking.

A new initiative could make parking in downtown Athens $1.00 an hour. This price would be the same for both street parking and parking decks.
Currently, it costs $1.50 an hour to park in a deck, and 75 cents to park on a street downtown.

Chuck Horton, Director of Athens Downtown Developmental Authority (ADDA), says the goal of the policy change is to get downtown employees to park in decks instead of on the streets.

The commission will vote on the price policy next month.
