Police Find Student’s Body in UGA Dorm

According to UGA police Chief Jimmy Williamson: Around 7pm tonight (Tuesday, 1/14/2014), UGA police received a phone call from housing officials that a number of students in UGA’s Vandiver Hall had expressed concern about a suitemate. Officers arrived on the scene and found the suitemate’s door locked. They entered the room with a key and found that the student was deceased.

This morning, UGA Police identified the deceased as David Peacock Braun, a 21-year-old student from Marietta. The cause of death is still under investigation.

“[There were] no obvious signs to make us think that foul play was involved,” Williamson said. “There’s no threat, there’s no emergency here.”
