Athens 2015 Founder of the year will talk about hiring practices640x360_40207B00-TTMXS to entrepreneurs. Brandon Checketts will be at Rook & Pawn from 11am to noon today. He will discuss hiring practices to build the best team for startups. Rook & Pawn is located off 294 W. Washington St. in Athens.

“It’s about life experience and your ability to read a situation and learn quickly about what’s working and what’s not,” says Checketts.

Entrepreneurs and community supporters can network over coffee and discuss topics of interest.

“Any information I can get is helpful, I’m trying to just learn everything about it so I know what to do in the future,” says Makena Winsor, a University of Georgia student.

This event is right before Athens Startup week, a five day event that offers different opportunities for entrepreneurs. Startup week begins March 28th and ends April 1st.

Reporter Cameron Martinez will keep us updated as the event occurs.
