Graduation is about five weeks away for the University of Georgia and graduation for Clarke County schools trail shortly after that. Graduation rates have increased over 10 percent since 2013 in the Clarke County School District.
Grady Newsource wanted to take a look at the numbers. In 2013 the district saw a 69 percent graduation rate. In 2014 the rate rose to 71.3 percent. In 2015 the rate increased to 80.3 percent. In the last two years, those rates have remained pretty steady.
Grady Newsource tried to reach out to the superintendent, Dr. Demond Means and the associate superintendent, Dr. Monica Gant for comment. The newsroom has not received a response. Grady Newsource reporter, Sabrina Burse, spoke to Dr. Means last week. He says the district is focusing on college and career readiness for its students.
