The Eight Percent Podcast: Student Members of NABJ Discuss Challenges of Race at UGA

As vice president of The University of Georgia’s National Association of Black Journalist chapter, I sat down with President Veronica Ogbe and Secretary Kristen Adaway as we discussed the struggles and challenges that black students face at a predominately white institute.

Why it’s Newsworthy: African-American students represent only eight percent of the undergraduate population at The University of Georgia. Many students of color continue to struggle with acceptance, comfortability and mental health issues while attending a predominantly white institute while dealing with an inferiority complex in classroom settings.
