The Lead: Randy Travis on Relevance of Investigative News

Allow me to begin this annotation by noting that this episode was recorded before the outbreak of COVID-19 and its subsequent impact on the University of Georgia’s campus. It has been an uncertain time in our community and all others, but I hope you are well and staying indoors.

Nonetheless, here is an interview to lift your spirits.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Randy Travis following his incredible commencement speech at Grady’s Fall 2019 Commencement Ceremony in December.

His passion and positivity toward the future of journalism truly resonates in this interview. It’s inspiring as a student journalist to hear from a Peabody Award-winning seasoned pro, but to hear one be so absolute in his hope for the future is unmatched.

This is a great episode for those of us feeling a little down about the role of journalism in American society, or simply down about the state of the world in general. Randy will cheer you right up, I promise.

Give it a listen:
