UGA Football Stars Return to Practice

The story of Georiga’s season has been injuries- but the team is ready to look past that and get a few vital pieces back this weekend.

“I’m pumped, everyone’s pumped. He makes my job easier. That’s for sure,” said Aaron Murray about Todd Gurley’s return.

Running back Todd Gurley returns to the field this weekend after being sidelined since the first half of the LSU game. And the team is ready to see his impact again.

“For what he does for our team, especially on the offensive side of the ball, is astronomical I think,” said Arthur Lynch.

“Todd, he’s just a difference maker,” said Murray.

He’s not the only one looking to make a comeback this weekend. Wide receiver Michael Bennett may be ready as well.

“Both of them looked good and if they don’t go backwards somewhere along the way, I would think they’ll play,” said head coach Mark Richt.

And getting those two offensive weapons back is key because Florida’s defense is one of the best in the nation. When asked if Bennett and Gurley coming back is even more vital because of Florida’s defense, Richt said: “Absolutely. Everybody that we could get back healthy, especially those that have been in those types of games before. And of course Gurley has played in this game a year ago. Bennett played in this game a year ago. And they both have played well in this game. So hopefully they have a good game this week.”

Getting these players back may also give the team that boost they need heading into one of the biggest rivalry games of the year. And the drama isn’t lost on the players.

“Emotionally, you can’t really compare it to anything else… It’s never ‘Oh, we’ll get them next year.’ When we lose we feel it for an entire calendar year,” said Lynch of the rivalry.

Adding to the pressure, a win keeps the the Dawgs’ SEC East hopes alive. And one loss- it’s gone.

“We need to take care of business ourselves. We know if we lose one more, we know there if definitely no shot of getting to Atlanta,” said Murray.
