The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced detours in Jefferson for Valentine’s Day weekend. Storey Street in downtown Jefferson will close Saturday and re-open Monday. Harold Mull, a Georgia DOT District Construction Engineer says the current roadway is not up to standards.
Workers will essentially remove the entire street and completely rebuild it. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has released a map of detours in the area. 
If you’re driving through downtown Jefferson this weekend, remember to keep this construction in mind.
