ATHENS, GA — UPDATE: The National Weather Service has lifted the freezing rain advisory in Clarke County. There were 28 counties in the state of Georgia with an advisory Monday morning.
Several schools announced closings, including:
- Gainesville City Schools
- North Georgia Technical College
- The Clarkesville and Currahee campuses are closed. The Blairsville campus is open.
- Young Harris College
- The college is scheduled to open at 11 a.m. today
The Consumer Energy Center has outlined precautions you can take in the event of an emergency weather situation.
If the power goes out, the Center suggests locating circuit breakers, having candles and flashlights with extra batteries on hand and outlining communication methods.
