“Oh To Be Young, Gifted, and Black: BUGA Under the Lens”

Athens, GA – Some minority students at The University of Georgia hope to shed some light on how they are treated on campus.  A new documentary entitled “Oh to be Young, Gifted, and Black: BUGA Under the Lens” focuses on what it means to be an African American at UGA. Last night UGA Elite and the Black Male Leadership Society, the two black student organizations that created the film, screened the film in front of about 30 black students.

Jamari Jordan is the executive producer for this film project. He says, “God gives each of us a voice. I hope I’m just using mine the best way I know how.” Here are some more of Jordan’s responses to the film’s release:

Allison Williams is one of the student who attended the screening. She says, “The film was necessary to BUGA. It reminded us of our purpose here and that we’re each other’s greatest resource.” Below are some of the other audience reactions:

You can check out the documentary when it is released on Youtube this Thursday.
