Transportation Bill Could Create 26 Percent Tax on Gas

ATLANTA — One day remains in this year’s legislative session, and the General Assembly worked late into the night on its agenda.

The most important matter to come out of last night’s session was an agreement on a transportation bill. The bill would create a 26 cent per gallon tax on gasoline and a 29 cent per gallon tax on diesel.

This changed the current gas tax law which was a tax of 7.5 cent per gallon and a 4 percent sales tax.

Grady Newsource anchor Wade Barron is learning how much that change could affect drivers.
