Journalist to Speak on U.S.-Cuba Relations

ATHENS- One reporter is visiting UGA to explain the current US-Cuba relations. Her view is unique because she has seen numerous reactions first hand.

Nora Gámez Torres is a Cuban reporter for the Miami Herald. She says the recent change in the Cuban trade policy has been expected for quite some time. She says it was even noticeable in the late 1990s. She says all kinds of factors have led to this change in policy. These range from the agenda to mend hurt relations with Latin American countries to even the increase of the Cuban population of Miami.

This lecture was organized by the UGA Caribbean Studies Group.
