Movie making, editing software, and music score composition? Not your typical school subjects, but one local high school is prepping students for a different kind of success.

Barrow County’s Sims Academy is hoping to cash in on the billion dollar film industry sweeping the state. With specialized programs such as construction, AV/communication, and culinary arts, students have a variety of options to choose from for part time high school education.

CEO and school principal Marc Dastous said those programs are what qualify the school to be a legitimate asset for film production crews coming to Georgia.

“Why is all of the post production going to Hollywood instead of staying here?” Dastous said. “We can still meet the standards, but we can adapt and customize our instruction to meet the needs of any local industry.”
