What Vaccines are Doing for Public Health

By Abby Jessen

Vaccines are improving public health, and experts from the UGA College of Public Health and Athens Regional have teamed up to talk about it on Wednesday night. They will explain the reasons for and science behind vaccine use, address vaccination safety, and discuss the role vaccines have played in protecting public health.

Dr. José Cordero, College of Public Health Patel Professor of Public Health, will serve as the moderator. Panelists include Dr. Karen Hilyard, an Assistant Professor of Health Communications in the UGA College of Public Health, Glen Novak, Director of the Center for Health and Risk Communication at the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, and local pediatrician Dr. Alan Glassman.

The panel will take place from 5:30-6:30 at George Hall on the UGA Health Sciences Campus. It is the second Community Conversation in a series about important public health issues.
