5 Tips for Handling Finals Freakout

By Katya Riedlinger

Finals: is a time where you cram three months of knowledge into multiple three-hour tests. Here are five ways to beat the stress and show your finals who is boss!

1.Sleep Sleep Sleep

The University Health Center recommends getting 8 hours of sleep a night. We have heard over and over how important sleep is, but here it is again: sleeping is a top way to combat sickness and stress. So, get those ZZZ’s to be sure you are in tip-top shape for studying.giphy-2

2.Stretch it out!

Don’t forget to relax and stretch your muscles if you are sitting still for a long period of time, especially if you are straining your eyes while staring at a computer screen for an extended period of time. From your eyebrows to your toes, here are stretches for your whole body that are quick and easy!giphy-3

3.Healthy Eating

Not only are fruits and veggies delicious, but they also help your immune system and boost your overall health. Stock your study snacks with yummy carrots and humus, or other healthy treats.giphy

4.Time Management

It may be tempting, but do not wait until the last second to cram for a tough test. Try studying a couple of hours per day or read over your notes before you fall asleep for a period of time instead of leaving it all for the last minute. You will retain the information much better.giphy-4

5.Take a Walk

Physical activity is not only is good for the heart, it is good for the head, too. Grab a friend, and catch up during a brisk walk or jog. A quick 30 minutes will refresh your mind for more studying, and help with retaining information.giphy-5

Here are some more tips from the UGA Health Center. Don’t forget that no matter what, keep things in perspective and know that you will make it through this week.
