Brumby and Russell Hall Chiller To Be Updated

With this month’s record-breaking temperatures, a dependable heating and cooling system is vital.

The Board of Regents approved a $2.8 million update of the chiller unit serving Russell and Brumby Hall. But the unit isn’t really being replaced at all. Instead, the system will be updated and connected to the university’s central system.

The update will help keep the buildings’ 20-year-old heating and cooling system reliable, something important with winter weather hitting Georgia hard.

Although students living in the dorms won’t see a difference in their rooms’ temperature, they would if the system failed. Executive Director of University Housing Gerard Kowalski said that if the chiller gave out, students would be much worse off. The update is a precautionary measure.
