Armed Robberies in Athens

Local police say you need to be on the look out for a team that’s already robbed several people at gun point. The pair is described as two dark skinned males in hoodies, one has a beard. They’re both in their late teens or early twenties. The two were reportedly wearing white masks.

Both robberies occured around midnight. One was on March 17 in downtown. The other one was just last night on College Station Road.

UGA Police Chief Jimmy Williamson encourages students to be especially careful when they are downtown at night.

“Remember that the offenders are looking for people who are overly intoxicated so if you are partying then drink responsibly and moderately,” Williamson said.

If you see anyone matching these descriptions then you should call 9-1-1 immediately. We will keep you updated on any more reported robberies in the Athens area.
