Athens – Serving you right on up into some tennis… the Athens Christian School took on the Banks County Leopards last night for the season opener.

Seniors Caleb Flores and Jilly Walters led the way for the Eagles, capturing a victory against the Leopards.

Sports Reporter Zack Watson spoke with Athens Christian Coach Van Beacham. “We’re in a very tough region. Our region 8A and Class A is extremely tough. So [there are] a lot of really good teams that we have to compete against out of Atlanta… here in the Athens area as well. So our goal every year is to try to make the state playoffs,” Beacham said.

The Athens Christian Eagles will go on to play Morgan County tomorrow. Other local high school tennis matches include Athens Academy who is taking on Jefferson today at 4. County rivals East Jackson and Jackson Count will also serve up some old-fashioned rivalry this afternoon.
