Athens Mayor: The worst has yet to come

Athens, Ga- Mayor Nancy Denson says “we have not seen the worst yet.”

There have not been many power outages in Athens, but as the precipitation continues to fall, many residents face the risk of losing their power.

The mayor advises  for anyone that loses power to stay inside and to close your curtains to keep the heat in as long as possible.

Denson states that the main roads have been treated but as the wintry mix worsens the sand on the roads can no longer serve as an aid.

People are being responsible and staying indoors so the ACC police have not had many calls today but the mayor still warns to check on the elderly and neighbors.

“Don’t forget the animals.” Denson warns to bring all pets inside as they are not used to the cold weather too.
